Israeli Jews rightly fear peace negotiations. Every such effort has been accompanied by waves of terror against Israeli Jews, with much death on both sides. This isn’t something Israelis are imagining.

A 2017 study published by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA), proved the point. The study found that hopelessness among the Arab population actually decreases acts of terror, while the prospect of peace increases terror. It makes sense: if Arabs think that Israel has the upper hand, they won’t dare to engage in terror attacks. If, on the other hand, the Arabs sense an opening in which concessions will be made in the name of peace, they know that acts of terror will likely not be met with international censure, so as not to disrupt the delicate nature of negotiations.

Small wonder then that Israelis can’t help but think that the upcoming Deal of the Century may actually end up killing people.
