This week, the Muslim Brotherhood released a statement claiming it “renounces violence,” and urging the West to remove its terrorist designation. The timing is remarkable. While Israel continues to battle Hamas—an openly genocidal terrorist group born directly out of the Muslim Brotherhood—the Brotherhood wants to rebrand itself as a peaceful, democratic movement.
But history tells a different story. From its inception, the Brotherhood has spread radicalism, inspired Islamist uprisings, and provided ideological cover for terror groups from Hamas to Al-Qaeda. “Renouncing violence” isn’t meaningful when you’ve already outsourced it. The Brotherhood’s statement is only about public relations. Western governments, especially those fighting radical Islamic terror at home and abroad, should not fall for this sanitized rhetoric.
Deplatforming them is justified—and long overdue.
