Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach didn’t feel well in the hours leading up to Shabbos. Rushed to the hospital, he died on Shabbos. Perhaps a fitting end for a man born on Yom Kippur. His passing was sudden, and his loss is felt keenly in Jerusalem. Rav Shmuel was close to Rab Eliashiv and Rav Shach, and he was the son of the late Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach.
The streets of Jerusalem were filled for over three hours with thousands of Jewish Israeli mourners. This is fitting for a great man who left no children. The Yeshiva students of Jerusalem, were all his sons.

May his memory be for a blessing.
