The State Department is being asked to disclose the names of those responsible for approving $1m in grant money along with the names of those who applied for it. The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request comes from the America First Legal Foundation (AFLF), a watchdog group that investigates government wrongdoing. Biden’s administration is now required to turn over all relevant records and documents pertaining to these grants which have been offered to various nonprofit groups that investigate alleged human rights abuses in Greater Israel.

The grant money comes from the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. The exact figure to be dispensed will be up to $987,654 to “strengthen accountability and human rights in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza.” Republican foreign policy leaders have expressed outrage at this expression of animus toward America’s closest ally in the Middle East.
