Hurricane Harvey is truly ecumenical, affecting Jews and those of other religions with equal vengeance. Many have been reminded of Katrina, and in fact, New Orleans is bracing for similar flooding to Houston as a result of Harvey. Like the survivors of Katrina, the Jews of Texas remember past floods.
“I am sad to report that many of our friends who flooded in the recent past are flooded once again, and there are many others who have never been flooded before,” said Rabbi Chaim Lazaroff, co-director of Chabad of Uptown, Chanie. “The rain is not stopping.”
Here’s hoping there will be no more loss of life and that homes can be speedily repaired.
