Jewish Democrats may have been upset to find they’d been duped about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s BDS leanings. Especially since she denied being in favor of BDS during the election and changed her tune only after she was in. But there is still something to give us Jewish nachas: Omar is pushing to remove the ban on head coverings worn by legislators on Capitol Hill.
The ban has been in place since 1837, and Omar aims to do something about it. If Omar is successful, religious Jewish legislators will be able to wear yarmulkes to work. The question is whether any will care enough to do so.
